The Future is Present
Pour sa quatrième exposition à la Galerie Suzanne Tarasieve, Anne Wenzel poursuit son exploration du délitement des symboles du pouvoir. Son œuvre vise à recréer des monuments à travers un vocabulaire qui apparait d’abord comme classique : bustes, bas-reliefs, natures mortes, bouquets de fleurs. Mais les monuments d’Anne Wenzel n’élèvent pas leur sujet, ne le sacralisent pas : sa verticalité à elle est descendante, elle vise le sol.
For her fourth exhibition at Galerie Suzanne Tarasieve, Anne Wenzel continues her exploration of the disintegration of symbols of power. She aims to recreate monuments in a vocabulary that may at first appear classical—busts, bas-reliefs, still lifes, bouquets of flowers. But rather than elevate or sanctify their subjects, her monuments’ verticality is in decline, aiming for the ground.
